This dark and dangerous chapter of the Vampire Queen series will hold you in its thrall. It’s the fifth book but it can be read as a stand-alone. A well-layered plot with complex relationships ends with a satisfying conclusion that begs for a follow up. Keep a fan and a glass of ice water handy, this one will raise your temperature.

Ms. Hill never disappoints! The Vampire Mistress is no exception. Laced with humor, witty banter, love, lust, really great sex and a fantastic plot this book was every thing I had hoped it would be. All three main characters are perfectly crafted. Anwyn is the only thing Gideon could care enough about to step outside his comfort zone, even make him entertain thoughts of Daegan. Gideon’s pain is felt throughout the story; of his past, his present and the fear of what the future holds for Anwyn. Though Daegan is an unfortunate circumstance that Gideon is forced to deal with, the two soon find common ground and work together to help Anwyn through her transition. All three main characters have a palpable chemistry together. Ms. Hill’s world building and storytelling abilities are in full force here. The book is part of the Vampire Queen Series, and defiantly will stand alone. It is however closely tied to books one and two in this series and if the reader has not read those first, this book will certainly give a few spoilers. Whether you choose to read them all in order, or pick this one out first, you won't be disappointed. Well except maybe when it’s over and it says "to be continued in book six!!!"

I devoured Vampire Mistress bite by bite and it was oh so good. Gideon is such a lost soul that he tugged on my heartstrings right away. He has such anger and passion, but he is needy too. Anwyn knows she can help. Her character is so strong and is just what Gideon needs. Daegan is strong and noble, not a characteristic you see all the time in the vampires in Joey W. Hill’s Vampire Queen world.
The three of them together are explosive. Gideon says he has no compassion, but he shows it time and time again while caring for Anwyn. He shows it when he talks to his brother and thinks of his nephew. He has a heart, but tries to shove his feelings away. Anwyn makes me want to cry with all that she has been through. She is so fragile, but she becomes stronger with both of her men there to help her. Daegan even has a piece of my heart. He takes a lot from Anwyn, more than a vampire of this world ever would. He isn’t afraid of his love either.
I Joyfully Recommend that everyone bow down and serve the Vampire Mistress by reading it. Now. I know I’ll be reading it again and awaiting the next story for more of Gideon, Anwyn and Daegan.

Can Gideon put aside years of pain and misery in order to save Anwyn? Vampire Mistress by Joey W. Hill is a journey into the dark world of BDSM and vampires. This book is not for the faint of heart. There is blood play and a rape scene that will make the more squeamish reader balk a little. I found these scenes to be really heartfelt and powerful additions to this gripping tale.
Gideon is a lost soul. He has seen and committed so much he cannot see past the pain and the death anymore. Anwyn is a fiercely independent soul. She is a human in a vampire’s world. She will not cross certain lines, and she has a heart that might be able to bring a vampire hunter back from the darkness.
We also meet one of the more intriguing vampires, Daegan Rei. He is a legend in the vampire world. And the love of Anwyn’s life. How can such strong personalities come together to form a triad like no other? Well if you want answers, this novel will not give them to you. The ending is heartbreaking. I truly hope Daegan stays and finds peace. I am really excited to see the next vampire novel from Ms. Hill and how Daegan comes together with Anwyn and Gideon. He needs peace too, he deserves it, especially for all he has done. Though part of a series, Vampire Mistress can be read alone and enjoyed completely. When you want a novel that is complex, gritty and completely unforgettable you want Vampire Mistress.

Vampire Mistress is a book that teased and tempted from the beginning to the end and will leave you begging for more...
The imaginative Joey W. Hill has once again given us a sexy and erotic paranormal treat. Be prepared to forgo sleep, work, dishes and cooking because you will not put this book down. The sinful ménage is heavy on character development and emotion as the trio learn to accept and to find a place for each other in their lives and their hearts. I loved Vampire Mistress as it focused on the relationships and left out extra, unnecessary suspense scenes which would have deterred from the new feelings developing from this ménage relationship. With that said, I do not think that adding more action would have added to the overall excitement of this book and the focus on the new relationships. The book did, however, have several suspenseful scenes and left a lot of possibilities that I am sure will be focused on in the next Vampire Queen book in the series. I can’t wait to find out more about the path that this trio will have to follow as they forge into this new way of life together.

From the very beginning with The Vampire Queen’s Servant I have been enthralled by this series by Joey Hill. As each new book arrives at my door I wonder, will this be the one that fails to hit her mark?
Congratulations Miss Hill, Vampire Mistress is another winner! Once again the reader is catapulted into the inner working of a world of vampires and their tenuous relationships with humans and the role they play in that world. To make it more intriguing she intertwines the world of BDSM into her works, taking the reader on a turbulent ride they are sure to remember long after putting the book down. Once they catch their breath, that is. Joey Hill’s ability to draw the reader into this mysterious and at times disturbing world is touched also by her aptitude to bring in humor at the most needed times.
Before I began to read Joey Hill I enjoyed an occasional story with a bit of slap and tickle, but always knew that there was something missing. Joey Hill captures that missing element with well written and synchronized characters. And I very profoundly exclaimed, “Now that’s what I’m talkin” about”!!!! But I feel that I must warn any reader not familiar with Joey Hill’s works. These are not tales for the person with a weak constitution. They are gritty and graphic as she pushes the envelope with sex scenes that can be outright raw in their intensity, as she takes the reader into the very souls of her characters. She challenges her readers to look beyond preconceived ideals of right and wrong and good and evil. Not just in dealing with sexual preferences but in all things human and beyond. She approaches topics with a vigor and passion that I applauded in her willingness to take on this taboo subject and bring it to life. She has taken erotica from a reputation of smutty porn to a new level of intensity and approaches situations with an openness that is sure to make some squirm. Combining the world of paranormal with erotica is nothing new, but the way Joey Hill captures this combination is accelerating. I certainly do not want discourage anyone thinking about picking up one of Joey Hill’s story for the first time. Actually quite the opposite, in fact I wholly encourage those of you who have not yet taken the plunge. Unless of course you are simply looking for a bit of slap and tickle, because folks, Ms. Hill doesn’t do anything simple.
Vampire Mistress takes us on the first part of this turbulent journey as Gideon tries to make sense of the new series of events that has brought him thus far to this place. However, we will have to wait for the next episode to this vampire series in VAMPIRE TRINITY, which will take us further into the lives of these charismatic characters and the challenges they are soon going to face.
Joey Hill is a cruel Mistress for making her loyal readers wait for the rest of this fiery and multifaceted story. But isn’t that the lesson so often the hardest to learn, that in denying instant gratification the intensity of finally getting what you want will be all the more rewarding in the end?
Well done Miss Hill!

This is an emotional book that draws you into Gideon’s life and emotions as he tries to find his way in life again. To see him try to find a reason to go on other than just hunting vampires. It is a very heart wrenching story as you watch Gideon struggle with his decisions and the way he does everything possible to help Anwyn and to work with Daegan when it comes to Anwyn. You won’t want to put this one down and will mourn when it comes to an end.

How these three connect is the perfect story of vampire lives. Gideon, killer of vampires, may have more than met his match with Daegan and vice versa. Joey W. Hill has done it again and created a bondage world for us to enjoy as we eagerly await the coming of her next book.

This is the fifth book in the Vampire Queen series. I haven't read the previous books and feel like this one stands alone. However, I believe you will want to read the next book in the series after finishing this one.
Vampire Mistress is very dark and disturbing while also showing the ultimate love and commitment one can make to another. I was confused during the first part of the book but the plot was so complex that I couldn't put it down. This is definitely not a lighthearted vampire book. It's enthralling, dark, and the contents will stay in your mind for a long while after reading it.
The compelling characters drive the story forward and leave you with a sense that their intense love towards each other might ultimately be their downfall. The author has the ability to craft a tight plot with unforgettable characters that defies description.
